Tina Hlimi, MES, BCL, LLB

Tina Hlimi is an experienced social justice lawyer in Ontario, running a general practice with a focus on administrative law, immigration law and family law.

Tina graduated from the University of Waterloo where she obtained her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Environmental Sciences. She was the recipient of the SSHRC Joseph Armand Bombardier scholarship for her master’s thesis.

Tina subsequently attended McGill University where she obtained her Bachelors of Civil Law (B.C.L.) and Bachelor of Common Law degrees (LL.B). She has been called to the Bar in the Province of Ontario and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Tina articled at a Legal Aid clinic in Toronto and then subsequently worked as a staff lawyer for a Legal Aid Clinic. She has extensive experience appearing before a number of administrative tribunals including: the Immigration and Refugee Board (Refugee Protection Division, Refugee Appeal Division), the Social Benefits Tribunal, and the Landlord and Tenant Board. She has also appeared at the Federal Court for immigration judicial reviews.

Tina is the author of several peer-reviewed publications, published in coveted journals, including, the Journal of Health and Place, the Annals of Air and Space Law and the International Journal of Circumpolar Health.

Tina is trilingual, speaking English, Dari (Afghan Persian) and French.
